Known for being very gentle, these patient giants can grow to weigh between 110 and 130 pounds. Not big into barking, these people pleasers need moderate exercise but are not super high energy and will be happy to lay-about happily with their family.
Great Dane
Despite it’s name, the Great Dane is a breed originally from Germany that can grow to weigh between 120 to 200 pounds. Extremely gentle and kind, the Great Dane makes an excellent apartment dweller, which is due in part to its fondness for lying around and panache for taking it easy. As far as space goes, you might find yourself having trouble squeezing onto the couch with this big pooch competing for space. Regardless, it won’t take long to fall in love with this sweet, gigantic canine companion.
Greyhound
Nicknamed the “40-mile-per-hour couch potato” despite their amazing physical ability to sprint, Greyhounds really do make great apartment dogs. In fact, one of the sweet, sinewy Greyhound’s favorite things to do is lay down on a favorite cushion, couch or bed. Despite their instinct to chase a lure, Greyhounds can also be great with other dogs and even cats. Many Greyhounds are former racing dogs and are eligible for adoption, which is something to keep in mind if you think a greyhound may be for you.
